STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

“Janice Orlandi is a true artist for her ability to intuitively connect with characters. Her insights cannot be found in any book.

She looks upon characters with a deep empathy and compassion that illuminates a profound understanding of their journey. She incorporates characters’ intentions and meanings with the playwright’s intentions and meanings – constantly working in relation to the whole. Being coached by Janice was inspiring for she loves the work and it is contagious. She creates such an encouraging and safe environment that I felt free to make bolder, riskier choices. I didn’t really know what I was saying in my Shakespeare monologue until I worked with Janice. By working moment to moment, the thoughts began to connect and meanings changed… and a whole new character was revealed to me. Janice is a coach who works from the heart, not the head…and for that I trust her completely." - Allison Tigard

“Dear Janice, Class today was incredible. It felt more like an event than a class, like something had happened, something big. I felt the way you do after having been through an ordeal and come out the other end. It was a passage. Not only was there the obvious breaking point during the war exercise, which I don’t have to tell you was beautiful and revelatory for me, but also when we all became children – I encountered another person whose dance made me laugh, and the amazing thing was: it was not my laugh that emanated from my body, but a strange laughter, one infinitely younger, a child’s laugh that was born and spilled out of me and anointed my experience - scarred body with youth. For these gifts I want to thank you. It is an honor being and becoming in your class." - Naphtali

"Janice Orlandi has a sharp, eye-opening instinct for analyzing the essence of a script. I recently played a lead in a film and her coaching helped unlock the full life of my character. I took what I learned that day and applied it on our film shoot that evening, and it worked! I was blown away by how dead and accurate her insight was into the script and characters. Then, she took me to a new level of understanding with her imaginative and emotionally charged ideas for crafting. Working with her that day was like watching an expert athlete exercise mastery. It was that powerful. Thank you Janice! Your coaching was a useful complement to the Meisner training I have as a foundation. I’m bringing my next role to you for more coaching." - Jaime Robert Carrillo
